Technical Details

  • Works with foreign and domestic cars, model year 1996 or newer
  • Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod (see table below)
  • BlueTooth 2.1 with EDR
  • Connects to your car’s OBD-II port

Product Description

Until the creation of the BT1, the low cost of do-it-yourself solutions was always accompanied by a high price: forfeiting your peace of mind. Now, for less than it would cost to visit your mechanic once, you can reliably diagnose engine problems, check for vehicle-specific recalls, and stream live performance data – using just the wireless BT1 and the iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad that’s already in your pocket or bag. A variety of apps provide repair suggestions, layman’s terminology, and safety analyses to ensure peace of mind and money-saving insight.

Setup Simplicity

The BT1 offers plug-and-know convenience, super-easy setup, and a highly navigable app with easy-to-read options and intuitive commands. Setup is as simple as downloading the app of your choice, plugging the BT1 into your vehicle’s OBD-II data port, and turning your car on. In moments you’ll have answers in the palm of your hand.

The BT1 can communicate wirelessly with any of these Apple devices:

iPod Touch

iPhone 3G

iPod Touch 2nd generation

iPhone 3GS

iPad 2

iPod Touch 3rd generation

iPhone 4

3rd generation iPad

iPod Touch 4th generation

iPhone 4S

iPad mini

iPod touch 5th generation

iPhone 5, 5s, 5c

The BT1 will interpret trouble codes, find recall information, and show special service messages about cars manufactured in or after 1996.

Find out why that troubling Check Engine Light is lit up, and turn it off with a few clicks. By diagnosing the problem yourself, you’ll know whether your vehicle needs a DIY fix (like tightening a loose gas cap) or a trip to the mechanic – where you’ll be armed with knowledge to prevent fraud. The BT1 will even diagnose stored trouble codes before indicators light up on your dash, so you can fix problems early to lengthen the life of your vehicle. You’ll also be notified of vehicle recalls, service bulletins, and the severity of any Check Engine Light diagnosis. Automatic firmware updates keep the latest information at your fingertips.

BT1-compatible apps can track real-time data from engine load measurements to accelerator pedal positions to incoming air temperature. You’ll save time and money, keep yourself and your family safe, and keep your ride in tip-top condition. Best of all, you can check your car’s health and function anytime, since the BT1 works wirelessly with the tool that’s already in your pocket.

  1. Used at HPDE PCA Event w/ Harry's laptimer

Posted by Unknown on 5th Aug 2014

I use the BT1 for PCA HPDE events using Harry's laptimer Grand Prix edition and GoPro and IPod 5th Gen as multicams. I was doubtful you could access 2 bluetooth devices seamlessly but indeed this was the case. Also, I did not take out the OBD during the 3 day event as it powers down automatically.

Here is youtube on how it all comes together. BT1 data located bottom right:

  2. Easy to install, works smoothly

Posted by Holly J on 30th Apr 2014

So far I've only used this on one car (2005 Subaru Impreza) But in the next couple of days, I'll also be using it on a 1999 Outback wagon, and a 1998 Forester. The "installation" was pretty straightforward, although it took a little bit of time more than I expected to get started with the app I had previously installed. After (easily) connecting via Bluetooth to my iPad (3), the app (I'm using Dash Command - totally worth the $9.99) requested fairly detailed info about the car. However, once that was done - totally easy. the speed of reporting of data was good, and I appreciated the "beep!" to let me know of connection when starting the car. I'm taking the Forester to the dealer in a couple of days to continue to work on the dreaded EGR error code, and I look forward to being able to share some live data with them. (It's a really good/trustworthy dealership an hour away - closer ones - not so much) I wish I'd bought this sooner!! I highly recommend this device.

  3. Hate gadgets, love BT1

Truly plug & play. Works on its own and integrates perfectly with Harry's Lap Timer app.

down load one of several apps to pull the data from the automobile. I use Harry's Lap Timer, Dash Command and the BT1 App. Plug and play. No problems

  6. Plug it in and it works

Posted by Unknown on 21st Jan 2014

Plug and Play just as advertised. Plugged it in and started the app on the iPhone and everything works as advertised. Highly recommend the $9.99 DashCommand app.

  7. Perfect for use with Harry's App Lap Timer Gran Prix Edition

Pulls throttle, rpm, boost etc and adds them to the overlay you can use.

  8. Worked as expected, no hassles, worked great.

Posted by Patrick Kelly on 10th Jan 2014

Plugged my GoPoint into my Audi A6, it made a nice subtle/queit beep when I started my car indicating it went active. Found the device in my bluetooth settings and paired it up. And went straight into the four GoPoint apps that I had installed in advance from the iTunes App Store.

Data started streaming immediately off of my car over bluetooth. No hassle in the setup. No complaints. Everything worked flawlessly. I also have DashCommand installed and as soon as I set the input to GoPoint BT1 in DashCommand it lit up as well.

Great tool, worth the price for reliability and ability to go to sleep automatically when your vehicle is turned off. I've only had it a couple of days, but so far, great product!

  10. Works great and saves money.

Works exactly as described and within the first week it helped resolve two issues with our cars saving us the cost of the unit already.
